Cotton will loosen up somewhat as you wear it, and cotton will shrink if you put it in the dryer.  If the pants fit right, take care of your investment, and keep them fitting right..  Wash the pants on cool, dry them for 3-5 minutes to get out the wrinkles, smooth out the pants with your hand, and put them on a hanger to finish drying.  That's how we do it.
